Dunkin’ Donuts

November 26th, 2008 . by Erin

Dunkin Doughnuts

As I was running errands this morning I happened across something I haven’t seen in over 5 and a half years… a ‘Dunkin’ Donuts’. I remember when I moved to Provo I was excited to see a ‘Krispy Kreme’ which we A.) Didn’t have in Oregon at the time and B.) Boasted they had donuts that would melt in your mouth. At the time it was nice to have a little variety to my options of donuts.

After 2 straight months of gorging on ‘said’ sweet pastry I longed to have a Dunkin’ Donut. The sweet delicious goodness of the frosting filled powdered donut plagued my mind as I could hear the taunting from Krispy Kreme ‘Meh heh, we’re your only option!’ Sadly I would hang my head and admit my defeat.

I had heard a disconcerting rumor that Dunkin’ Donuts had gone out of business, so imagine my surprise when I was on my way to the hardware store for leaf bags; I noticed a sign from heaven. A beautiful sign that stood proud as it gleamed the name of my favorite donut shop. Tears came to my eyes as I went in to smell the aroma of Apple Fritters, Bear claws, Boston Crème, Glazed, Powdered and Sugar donuts. I was on cloud 9 as I walked out with my half dozen and a huge smile on my face. After over 5 and a half long years of putting up with only Krispy Kreme donuts to satisfy my palette, my craving for a strawberry frosting filled powdered donut had finally been satisfied and was like pure heaven in my mouth. Never again will I settle for a mediocre donut.

Mono Flare-Up

November 18th, 2008 . by Erin

I’m starting to go stir crazy! I have recently found myself in a Mono Flare-up, which has sucked up all my energy. Fantastic. As much as this sucks it has given me the ability to search high and low for a job from the comfort of my laptop ‘Rosita’. I only hope that if I do manage to score an interview that I’ll actually have energy to go to it. Until then I am currently camped out on my bed Watching Seasons of Arrested Development wanting desperately to go outside and bask in the beautiful 68-degree sunny weather.

Let me say this. It’s too bad I can’t find a job that I could do from my home in my jammies cause that would be awesome! May I find a job soon!

Nyquil Coma

November 15th, 2008 . by Erin

Sorry everyone… Through the job hunting, getting settled, and trying to find my way across the vast land of Dallas, I had a weird illness strike me down. It’s mostly upper respiratory so it could be worse… I could be hailing the ‘Porcelain God’ praying that with every heave I might get an hours worth of sleep before the next round, so I’m thankful that’s it’s coughing instead of vomit that is keeping me up at night.

Luckily for me I have Nyquil at my disposal! The ‘Nightime, Sniffling, Sneezing, Coughing, Aching, Fever, Knock you out for a month, Why does my cat suddenly look like ‘Elvis’, medicine!

As a side note: The new James Bond movie ‘Quantum of Solace’ is really good. I saw it last night with a bunch of friends and I have to say, Daniel Craig as ‘James Bond’… Is muy bueno

5 Minute Mug Cake

November 11th, 2008 . by Erin

Hey everyone thank you for baring with me until I get settled. I have been looking non-stop for jobs down here and between that and getting through my RSS reader I have found myself in a full time job!

For today I came across an e-mail my aunt had sent me a while back and feel the need to share it. This recipe might be the easiest recipe on the planet and it’s chocolate (so you can’t go wrong no matter what you do).

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

  • 4 tablespoons flour
    4 tablespoons sugar
    2 tablespoons baking cocoa
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons milk
    3 tablespoons oil
    3 tablespoons chocolate chips(optional)
a small splash of vanilla essence
    1 coffee mug
  • Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla essence, and mix again.
  • Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed!
  • Allow mug to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT!
(This can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
  • And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night.

More about Texas

November 10th, 2008 . by Erin

I love it down here!! Anyone who ever feels the need to rag on the State of Texas wasn’t here long enough. Like every state, it has its quirks but for the most part I have loved every minute I have spent here in the greater Dallas area… I have compiled a list of the great things about this state.

  • Everyone calls me ‘Miss Erin’. I love that!
  • Football and Dr. Pepper rule the world down here.
  • Everything is on a grid so everything is relatively easy to find.
  • Dr. Pepper in glass bottles!!!
  • Dr. Pepper Museum
  • Everything is bigger here… including my hair ;)
  • Texas Thunder Storms… A.may.zing!
  • All the men are so helpful here – I got followed out of a grocery store by 3 men asking if they could help with my groceries.
  • Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pepper Bahahahahaha.

I will update you as my list grows! For now I have added a picture of me standing in four states at the same time!

4 Corners!

4 Corners…

I made It!!

Hey everyone! I made it safe and sound and had a few interesting things happen on the way down there…

Cool things I’ve now done.

  • I got my kicks on route 66
  • I took a left at Albuquerque (It’s funny if you’re a Bugs Bunny fan)
  • I stood in four states at once (4-Corners)
  • Enjoyed A High School Football game (the stadium is as bug if not bigger then a college stadium…Very cool)

I’ll have more stories and elaborations tomorrow when I finally get done packing.

Deep In The Heart Of Texas!

November 3rd, 2008 . by Erin

Hello everyone! As many of you already know I will be moving to Texas! That’s right the ‘True Blue Oregonian’ will be leaving the state of Utah to move down deep in the heart of Texas!

What’s so great about Texas? Well I will tell you what’s great about Texas!

First of all you have BBQ and TexMex
